The homemade mousetraps will help you to get rid of mice at the cottage, they require only a few common things like bucket or container, water and food, like peanut butter or cracker crumbs.
How to make a mousetrap with your own hands.
To create the homemade mousetrap, take a bucket and fill it with water by three quarters. If you want to kill the mouse faster, add soap. After making it, put the bucket in a place, where you saw mice. Now, put the ramp (wooden board or plastic sheeting) to the bucket.
The end of the ramp must reach the edge of bucket, and the other end must lie on the floor / ground. Throw the seeds or other food in the water. The food will attract the mouse, and it will climb the ramp. Eventually, it will fall in the water and drown.
So, there is a wide range of mousetraps that can really help you get rid of mice in the house once and for all. Using them, you can protect your family from rodents. It is very important to timely deal with the destruction of mice, as they carry such illnesses, as hantavirus (they spread it with their urine and litter).
Mice and rats also carry ticks and bedbugs, which, in their turn, carry the Lyme disease with the bite. It is always better to start from the home mousetraps, as they are just as efficient, but able to save money that you would otherwise spend on the purchase of commercial fighting methods.
A few words about the bait.
I put a piece of bagel in the trap.
Firstly, it has a rounded shape, and therefore easily slips out of the mousetrap gatehouse, i.e. it is a very sensitive bait-support.
Secondly, the mouth of the mouse is more adapted to the biting than to the chewing. The mouse always prefers solid food to the soft one. For example, if it has to choose between the fresh soft loaf of bread and the old dry bread, the mouse will choose the second one, as it finds biting more comfortable.
Cheese and sausages as the favorite dish of the mouse is the cartoon myth and misconception. Of course, the mouse will eat both cheese, sausages or lard, but only if there is no solid food “at hand”.
I would also recommend putting the “bait” next to the trap, to develop a sense of impunity in the mouse :).
For instance, I always out one small piece of bagel not far from the mousetrap. The mouse eats it and “understands” that it is tasty and safe :), the second piece of bagel, located in the tramp, becomes “fatal” for it.
