We love the challenges
Hamilton County wildlife offers, from raccoons in the attic, woodpeckers pecking siding, bat guano buildup in a barn, or opossums stuck under your deck.
With each season, a new set of local wildlife concerns arise. For example, bats begin maternity season in the spring, but removing them from your home is illegal during this time.
If you have a nuisance wildlife problem, that means your property can provide food, water and shelter to the animal. Without those three things, wildlife will not stick around.
At Critter Control of Hamilton County, we have a multi-step inspection, removal, repair and exclusion plan that works. Here are some examples of our services.
Raccoons are one of the most common nuisances in our area. If they can get into your attic or crawlspace, they will quickly make it their home. Raccoons rest all day to prepare for their nightly treks, searching for food. While you are drifting off to sleep at night, they are out scaling chimneys and tipping over trash cans, scattering your garbage all over your street.
Raccoons can travel up to six miles a night seeking a good meal. Their human-like hands help them raid gardens, dig holes in sod, empty birdfeeders and dumpster dive behind restaurants. Then, it's back to your home to recoup. Their permanent masks aren't fooling us, though. We know how to deal with the mischievous bandit of Hamilton County.
Rat and Mice Pest Control
Rats and mice found in Hamilton County homes or businesses include the Norway rat and the house mouse. If you've ever had a rodent problem, you want to be in denial at first. Ignore it, and it will go away. But you can't ignore the signs, like chewed wires, gnaw marks on drywall, tracks and tiny droppings.
You look around and see gnawed wires, chew marks on furniture, walls and baseboards. You open the pantry and find a trail of crumbs leading from a new food box to a new hole in the back of the cabinet. Oh, and more droppings.
Rats and mice are filthy, hosting various diseases. Removing them is not always a simple task, especially when dealing with multiples. Since rodents reproduce often, you need an expert to assess the number of rodents causing problems.
Rats and mice aren't the only rodents in town wreaking havoc in our neighborhoods.
The gray and fox squirrels are common nuisance
wildlife in Hamilton County. As mini-hoarders, squirrels spend most of their time collecting and storing food and nesting materials. Fruits, nuts, grains, seeds, bark, twigs, bird eggs and leaves are a few examples. Attics, walls, ceilings, ductwork, chimneys and pipes are all possible storage spots.
Squirrels use their teeth and hands to damage wires, scratch walls, shred insulation, chew through the siding. We can get rid of your squirrel problem.
Another nuisance wildlife that prefers an attic environment is the
local brown bat.
Some Hamilton County residents have bats living on their property and never know it. Other residents are annoyed daily by the loud noises and foul odors coming from their attic, barn, or different structure. At night they swoop down towards the street light and fly back into the attic. They are feasting on the insects hovering near the light, which is one reason we love bats.
It's their guano, or poop, that causes problems. Guano is heavy and toxic. It can grow mold spores that are dangerous if inhaled by humans. It also stains your property, and because it contains uric acid, it can corrode wood and metal, making the structure of your home unstable.
It's never a good idea to try and remove a bat on your own. Their fur is covered in guano and urine because they continue to defecate as they roost, allowing waste to cover their bodies. Please do not put yourself at risk of touching their guano or being bitten by a bat that feels threatened. Call our pros to do the dirty work.
Other insect-eaters we love to hate are the various bird species of Indiana.
Over
400 bird species exist in Indiana. Some days, it may feel like all of them perch on the electrical wires outside your home. From the massive amounts of droppings, the constant pecking on your siding, chirping from the trees, and finding nests in your eaves, gutters, chimneys and vents, you're ready for the birds to be gone. We can help.
