Opossums make nests in dens left by other animals, crevices in trees, attics, and garages. The pests live near suburbs and cities where they can raid garbage bins and feed on roadkill. They do most of their scavenging at night because they're nocturnal. Notably, opossums are skittish and are prey for several other wildlife pests.
Opossum Noises
These pests will make clicking noises when they're trying to attract mates and hissing or growling sounds when they feel threated. Baby opossums make noises that sound like sneezing when trying to get their parents' attention. Outside of these special circumstances, though, the pests rarely make audible sounds.
Opossum Sounds at Night
Since they are active after dark, opossums are most likely to make sounds at night. The pests are usually silent when they are alone, so hearing opossums means that multiple animals are nearby. Clicking and "choo choo" sounds coming from roofs and attics often mean that mothers and their babies have made their dens there. Hisses and clicks in basements, garages, or under porches could be mating calls or attempts to frighten off predators like coyotes, foxes, or large dogs.

Squirrels and chipmunks were in our attic. So we called Critter Control to do an inspection. Their representative climbed all over our very steep roof and found several places where squirrels had entered our attic.
Upon inspection of the attic, evidence of bats was also found. The Critter Control team came on time to completely caulk the entire perimeter of the house and create an exit strategy for the squirrels and bats.
Because
bat droppings can cause histoplasmosis, this also required total removal and replacement of our attic insulation and sanitizing the space. Not a small job in a 1,300 sq. ft. attic! While Critter Control’s cost was high, our homeowners insurance covered most of it. Everyone representing Critter Control was professional, courteous and timely. I would highly recommend them to anyone who thinks they might have unwelcome guests living in their attic

She examined the ‘matter’ that had been scattered on my threshold and thought it was foliage. But she then asked to go up to my attic space where the bats could be roosting. She had to walk up 3 flights of stairs with a heavy ladder. She again spent some time searching all the nooks and crannies and found nothing.
She seemed so interested in her craft, it was truly inspiring to see! She reassured me and is writing up a prevention strategy for my appraisal. She charged me NOTHING!! I am so impressed. We need more Madisons in this world!

Daniel did a great job pigeon proofing. We have a huge pigeon problem in our neighborhood and the pigeons were roosting in the gutters of my house and my two next door neighbors, who also had nests in their gutters and under their air conditioner. Pigeon poop filled our gutters, and was piled on the outside floor when I bought the house. Since Daniel's pigeon proofing, and my neighbors also pigeon proofing their gutters, fireplace chimney, air conditioners, and removal of nest, I rarely see pigeons any more. Only the lovely native sparrows, robins, vermillion fly catchers, and mourning doves visit our property now.
