Squirrels enter homes looking for shelter. The typical entry points for squirrels are along the roofline specifically soffits, eaves, fascia boards, and vents. Excellent climbers, these entry points give squirrels access to the attic which provides access to wall cavities.

Wall cavities are especially attractive to mother squirrels. They’re small, dark, and free from predators so it’s an ideal place for a nest.

Signs of Squirrels in Wall Cavities

Even though they can't be seen, squirrels in walls are far from untraceable.

Signs of a squirrel infestation behind the walls include scurrying or scratching noises. Other telltale signs include the presence of chewed holes indicating that squirrels have made their way inside. The pests may also leave scratches or claw marks around vents and other points of entry.

Homeowners should pay particular attention to wires and plumbing that lead into the house, as squirrels commonly take advantage of these vulnerable areas.

Squirrel Damage Inside Walls

Once inside the walls, squirrels have the ability to cause property damage ranging in severity from minor to potentially hazardous. In addition to gnawing on and chewing holes into structures, the pests can damage the insulation and electrical wiring contained within walls. When squirrels chew on wires, they put the entire home at increased risk of an electrical fire.

Is The Squirrel Stuck in Wall?

Squirrels don’t always seek out a wall cavity. There are some materials like drywall squirrels cannot climb up. Baby squirrels can also get stuck inside a wall. If you hear frantic noises, call an expert immediately. You’ll need to remove the squirrels before they die.

How to Get Squirrel Out of Walls

Getting rid of squirrels inside a wall can be tricky. Adult squirrels in walls should never be removed by hand, as they will bite if they feel cornered or threatened. Furthermore, squirrels are elusive animals and skilled at evading human contact, which can make removal particularly challenging for untrained persons.

Squirrels will leave your house regularily to get food and water. We can identify the entry points. We will seal the entry points and install a one way door on one exit. The squirrel will evict itself. Setting squirrel traps inside your home can be an effective means to get rid of squirrels inside the walls.

If juveniles are present, wel will hand remove the young and either reunite them with their mother or work with a wildlife rehabilator.

Critter Control, however, offers safe and effective squirrel removal services. Live traps and one-way doors are the most humane squirrel removal. If we find a nest of babies, we might need to open a hole in the wall to remove them by hand.

BAT POOP CLEAN-UP AND PREVENTION! Bat guano removed from gables. No bats found in attic, so put new screens on all gable vents, as one screen was close to breaking and then bats may have gotten in! Great work in Tulsa!

Squirrels and chipmunks were in our attic. So we called Critter Control to do an inspection. Their representative climbed all over our very steep roof and found several places where squirrels had entered our attic.

Upon inspection of the attic, evidence of bats was also found. The Critter Control team came on time to completely caulk the entire perimeter of the house and create an exit strategy for the squirrels and bats.

Because bat droppings can cause histoplasmosis, this also required total removal and replacement of our attic insulation and sanitizing the space. Not a small job in a 1,300 sq. ft. attic! While Critter Control’s cost was high, our homeowners insurance covered most of it. Everyone representing Critter Control was professional, courteous and timely. I would highly recommend them to anyone who thinks they might have unwelcome guests living in their attic

On recommendations from a nearby pest control company, I called Critter Control for suspicious bat droppings.

Madison came out the same day to do an inspection. She was knowledgeable, thorough, and highly professional. She examined the ‘matter’ that had been scattered on my threshold and thought it was foliage. But she then asked to go up to my attic space where the bats could be roosting. She had to walk up 3 flights of stairs with a heavy ladder. She again spent some time searching all the nooks and crannies and found nothing.

She seemed so interested in her craft, it was truly inspiring to see! She reassured me and is writing up a prevention strategy for my appraisal. She charged me NOTHING!! I am so impressed. We need more Madisons in this world!

We noticed droppings on our brand new deck - we were given their number from our contractor. They came the next day. Brian looked at it and said - yeah, bats!! He then checked every area in our attic and he explained exactly what needed to be done.

He found evidence of a mice infestation, provided a referral and they are helping us as well. Great service, very informative, very professional! We are very satisfied and would recommend them to anyone who has any issues with any critters!
